222 Vernon St. Roseville CA
Mission: A coffee, art, and music lounge dedicated to building community and serving others in the heart of Old Roseville.
Vision: Creating a “third place” atmosphere in Old Roseville that will serve as a regular gathering place for people of all ages, boosting the local economy, promoting the arts and social action, and serving gourmet coffee.
Brief History: In 2005, Joshua and Rachel Lickter moved to Northern California with the dream of eventually starting a cultural center that would function as a coffeehouse-art gallery-small music venue. They found, in Roseville, many people who shared a common love for the arts, building community, and social action (especially rehabilitating the local homeless population.) In 2014,
the time seemed right to begin assembling a team of like minded people that could help launch a unique, community-minded coffeehouse in Old Roseville.
Goals and Objectives: We want to establish an hospitable coffee-lounge environment above and beyond anything else in the area; a gathering place people of all ages will want to return to. We want to give people an environment that takes its coffee, art, and music seriously, and one that sees a unique value in each and every person that walks through the door.
Experience and Training: Fr. Joshua Lickter has over 11 years’ formal ministry experience, and 25 years’ experience in various aspects of the music world. He and his wife Rachel started a community coffeehouse, art gallery, and small music venue in Philadelphia called The Mad Donkey in 2003. After moving to Roseville in 2005, they both managed the Underground, an all ages music venue and coffee shop run by Valley Springs Presbyterian Church. For five years, the Underground offered Roseville a safe place for people of all ages and backgrounds to perform and enjoy live music. In preparing to launch the Fig Tree, they have gathered together a team of like minded individuals with vast experience in the commercial real estate, hospitality, coffee, art, and music worlds.
